How do I book?

Accepted Answer

You send us your dates. Open a stay, choose the dates and who is coming, leave your name and number — or just send us a WhatsApp with the same. That is an enquiry, and it costs nothing. We then ring the property's owner to check those dates are genuinely free, and call you back, usually the same day, with the final price and how to pay. Nothing is committed until you say yes on that call.

Do I pay anything on the site?

No. There is no payment page on Hill Aura, no advance and no card details — sending your dates charges you nothing and commits you to nothing. Payment is arranged on the call once you have agreed to go ahead. If anything on this site ever asks you to pay, it is not us.

Question 3

How is the price worked out?

Accepted Answer

Nightly rate × nights, for the party you entered. Where a stay charges for a guest beyond the number its rate covers, or prices children by age, the total on the page moves as you change the party — so the figure you are looking at is the figure for the trip you described. Extras that have to be arranged, like a campfire, are listed on the stay's page and added on the call rather than silently.

Is my room held while you check?

No, and we would rather say so than pretend. Availability here is confirmed by a person ringing the owner, not by a screen, so between your enquiry and our call back the dates are not reserved. It is usually the same day. If they have gone in the meantime we will tell you straight away and say what is free instead.

Can I ask about tonight?

Yes. Send the enquiry and then message us on WhatsApp as well, so somebody picks it up rather than waiting on the queue — same-day arrivals are worth a phone call in both directions, and the owner will want to know roughly when to expect you and tell you about the drive up in the dark.

Are the photos real?

Accepted Answer

Every one. We drive to each property, stay in it and shoot it ourselves — no host-supplied galleries, no stock. If a room has been repainted since our last visit we reshoot it before it goes back up.

Do you list a property you have not visited?

Accepted Answer

No. That is the whole point of Hill Aura, and it is why the list is short and every stay on it has had one of us asleep in it.

Question 8

Can I bring my dog?

Accepted Answer

At the stays marked pet-friendly, yes, and it is a real filter rather than a hopeful one — we have asked each host directly. Tell us the size and the breed when you book so the host can put the right room aside.

Question 9

Is there a phone signal? Wi-Fi?

Accepted Answer

Signal varies by valley and is listed honestly on each property page. Wi-Fi exists at most stays and is genuinely usable at fewer of them. If you need to take a call, ask us before booking and we will tell you which properties hold up.

Question 10

Do I need an e-pass?

For Kodaikanal and the Nilgiris (Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri), yes — Tamil Nadu requires a vehicle e-pass and it is checked at the ghat road. It is free and takes about two minutes on the official portal. The banner at the top of every page links straight to it.

Can I get there without a car?

Accepted Answer

Mostly yes. Every destination page lists the nearest railhead and the drive from it, and hosts will arrange a pickup for a fair rate if you ask a day ahead. A few of the estate properties genuinely need a high-clearance vehicle in monsoon; those say so on the property page.

What time can I check in?

2:00 PM standard, 11:00 AM check-out. Early check-in is usually possible if the previous night was unbooked — ask us the morning of, not weeks before, because that is when we can actually know.
